How do you feel about your body fat?
Answers to this question from the public title the work in "Bound"; each piece is a window into the intimate and complex dialogue between a person and their body. Still, fixed, and benign- “Bound” offers totems to fatness, embodying a dynamic yet balanced neutrality.
I consider taboo forms of the body, and challenge the silent power of their semiotics. Viewers are invited to visually acclimate to the paunchy, flabby volumes constricted (or hugged) within their frames. Through them, a nontraditional beauty of the human form is revealed. Its presence saturates your environment with lesser-seen parts of ourselves we may shame, celebrate, mourn, or disregard.
